Frequently Asked Questions
Choosing a psychiatrist is a deeply personal decision. Below, you will find clear answers regarding my practice model, fees, insurance, and clinical approach so you can feel completely informed before taking the next step.
-
I am an out-of-network psychiatrist and do not participate directly with insurance plans. Operating independently of insurance allows me to structure care around the individual rather than time limits or insurer-mandated protocols. Appointments are thorough and unhurried, with treatment decisions guided entirely by your clinical needs, preferences, and goals.
If your health plan includes out-of-network benefits, you may be eligible for partial reimbursement. At the end of each month, my office provides a detailed itemized receipt (a superbill) that you can submit directly to your insurance provider.

In traditional, insurance-driven healthcare, psychiatrists are often forced to see three to four patients per hour. This creates an assembly-line model where visits are reduced to rapid 15-minute check-ins, and complex human experiences are boiled down to diagnostic checklists.
My practice is built on depth, time, and relationship. We take the space to evaluate your medical history, biological factors, temperament, learned patterns, and life story together. We do not just ask, "What are your symptoms?" We ask, "Why are these patterns happening, and what do you need to move forward with clarity and confidence?"

I treat adolescents (ages 14+) and adults. My clinical focus includes complex, overlapping presentations such as ADHD, anxiety disorders, OCD/OCPD, depression, PMDD, emotional dysregulation, and sleep disturbances. For adolescent care, active collaboration with parents or legal guardians is thoughtfully integrated into treatment planning while respecting the teen's growing autonomy.
-
Yes, when clinically indicated, appropriate, and integrated into a safe, comprehensive treatment strategy. Controlled medications are never prescribed as a standalone solution, and prescribing decisions strictly comply with federal and state (NY/NJ) medical regulations following a comprehensive evaluation and ongoing monitoring.
-
Appointments are psychotherapy-informed and may include supportive, cognitive-behavioral, acceptance-based, motivational, or insight-oriented work. For people who would benefit from regular psychotherapy, I may recommend concurrent treatment with a therapist and collaborate with that clinician when authorized.
-
I provide care through secure telepsychiatry as well as in-person appointments. I am licensed to treat individuals who are physically located in New York or New Jersey at the time of their appointment.
