Beyond the Diagnosis

I became a psychiatrist because I found it to be the most deeply human corner of medicine. Early in my career—navigating high-acuity hospital settings and managing severe psychiatric crises— I learned that true care begins with being a steady, grounded presence. High-pressure medicine taught me precision, but more importantly, it taught me that suffering does not discriminate.

For years, I practiced within traditional healthcare systems that were built for speed, not depth. Patients were evaluated, categorized, and medications prescribed while the quiet questions of their actual lives went unaddressed.

A diagnosis tells you what symptoms are present, but it tells you very little about the person experiencing them. I founded my private practice to step off that conveyor belt—to give us the time, space, and freedom to understand what is truly going on.

You Are Not Broken. You Are Stuck.

A phrase I come back to often in my practice is: the mind has a hard time navigating a path it cannot see.

Most people who walk into my office are not broken; they are simply caught in patterns they have never been able to clearly see or name. When we examine those patterns together, the dynamic shifts. The shame starts to lift, the dread becomes workable, and you stop fighting yourself so you can start working with yourself.

I think of our work together as finding your anchor. When anxiety, low mood, or emotional overwhelm pull you in every direction, my role is to provide a calm, steady presence while we untangle the knots together. The ultimate goal of therapy and thoughtful psychiatric care is for you to become your own anchor. Until then, I hold that ground with you.

My Approach to Healing

Medication can create the biological conditions for healing, but it does not automatically produce insight, self-understanding, healthier relationships, or a resolution of shame. Real healing requires thoughtful conversation.

My perspective is shaped not just by dual board certifications in Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine, but by who I am outside the clinic: a husband, a father, a son, and someone driven by a deep curiosity about human nature and personal growth.

I don’t sit across from you pretending to have every answer. I bring clinical expertise, deep humility, and a genuine commitment to helping you step out of the fog and into a clearer, more grounded way of living.
